10 Reasons to Start Blogging Now*

1. Blogging gives you a presence on the web.

Each blog post creates a larger footprint for your business online. The bigger your footprint, the more opportunity there is for someone to find you online who is looking for what you sell.

2. Blog posts show up in search results.

If you use the right keywords in your blog posts, titles and tags, people searching for what you do can find you when they search Google. Blogging provides dynamic content on your website which search engine crawlers love.

3. Blog posts can be linked through your social network.

You are nothing if you’re not producing relevant content. You can only get so far with cute posts and fancy photos. The level of rapport, credibility and trust you will gain from relevant, accurate, thorough, well-written blog posts is incredible.

4. Blog posts can be used as email newsletter content.

One blog post per week can feed your social media networks, beef up your website and be sent to those in your database as an email newsletter. One blog post goes a long way! There are other ways to reconstitute content that I will be discussing later.

5. Blogging increases your website traffic.

When you blog, the content is fed through multiple channels such as your email newsletter, your Facebook account, your Twitter, LinkedIn and more. People in your network will follow the link to your website to read your blog post. This will drive up the traffic statistics.

6. Blog posts can be used as sales presentation tools.

Blog posts can be used later to back up what you’re saying to clients and prospects. You can use your blog posts to answer commonly asked questions that prospects may have, and to educate your target market about the products and services you provide. You can use your blog posts as press-releases that announce good news to the world. Blog posts are essential marketing tools.

7. Blog posts can be shared through social networks, causing a viral effect.

If you write blog posts that people actually want to read, then they will be shared among your network, thus free marketing without the extra effort. The trick is determining what content is desired and needed by your target market network.

8. Blogging is an inexpensive way to market your business.

It is free to blog. All it takes is your time. Once you get good at blogging, you’ll find that the process fits into your regular routine. You may even find that blogging about what you do actually improves your performance! It’s amazing what a little organization of your thoughts on a blog can do! Every time you create a blog post, it “digitizes you,” meaning, it duplicates you and allows others to see you when you’re not there. There’s no more efficient way to market yourself than blogging.

9. Your blog posts increase your value to your target market.

If you are a Realtor writing about your local area, you will help those who are looking to move to the area. If you’re an insurance agent, you can blog about insurance-related issues, answering questions of the typical person in need of insurance. If you’re a dog trainer, you can offer free tips and advice on training and caring for dogs. All of these types of content will set the “Law of Reciprocity” in motion, which is a viable lead generation strategy for web marketing.

10. Blogging helps you to be perceived as an authority in the marketplace.

The written word has more credibility from the spoken word, because traditionally the written word has been under more stringent requirements. Today publishing is so cheap, anyone can write anything, but that hasn’t changed the stigma associated with the written word. You can use this to your advantage by writing blog posts that position you as an authority in your market.
Blogging is free marketing.

Lastly, your blog is always there, visible all over the planet, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for infinity.
