Social Media is Like Baking a Cake*

Social Media is Like Baking a Cake*

According to About.com, “Cake batters are precise combinations of ingredients; in fact, a scratch cake recipe can be considered a scientific formula.” The ingredients are combined in a certain way to form the structure of the cake. We all know that, right? But of course!

You can make substitutions, but the process for baking a cake must be precise. There are things you must do like, prepare the pan, mix the ingredients in just the right amounts. You have to have eggs, sugar, butter, salt, flower, baking powder… The oven must be the right temperature. You have to cook it just so… There are things that must be in place if your cake is to rise up to be delicious to eat. Sorry, no shortcuts!

Don't let your social media flop...

How many of us at one time in our lives tried to bake a cake missing an essential ingredient? Not a pretty site. A Cake Flop. A disaster.

The same goes for your social media campaign.

Your Social Media Cake

If you want to be successful using social media to market your business, there are certain ingredients that you need. If you want to see your popularity grow, if you want to generate leads, start buzz and get famous among your target market, then you must do everything “just so,” if you are to create something that brings you new business and makes you feel proud.

Many people are trying to ad lib their way through the process without making sure they understand the proper ingredients for an effective social media campaign. Their web presence is shoddy, unkempt and ineffective. Meanwhile, these same people will tell you that social media doesn’t really work at all.

Really? That’s like trying to bake a cake with dishwashing liquid and claiming that it’s impossible to bake a cake. Not true! If you have the right skills and know-how, you can create a fabulous social media campaign that gets immediate results. You just have to get the right ingredients and know how to put everything together.
